Two weeks ago, UC Browser claimed to have accepted almost 500 million downloads on Google's Play Store. But, now, surprisingly, the app is no longer obtainable in the Play Store. It has at the first sight cancellous overnight from the Play store and, no one knows the reason why. So, if you're looking to download it now, well, you may not see the application on the Google Play Store for now.
However, it should be noted that the UC browser mini app which is a stripped down version of the UC Browser is still available. UC Browser was delisted from Google Play store on Tuesday night for some odd reason. Reports were such that Google removed the application because of some data security concerns.Later on Wednesday, UCWeb, a company owned by Alibaba Group of China sent out an email throwing some light on what exactly happened and also highlighted the reason for the sudden removal from Play store.
The email statement noted, We were informed by Google Play about temporary removal of UC Browser from the Play Store for 7 days, beginning 13 Nov 2017, under the reason that a certain set of UC Browser is not in line with Google's policy. We have conducted an urgent internal investigation and fixed the problem. The new version has been uploaded to Google Play's Developer Console and is awaiting evaluation. We will actively cooperate with Google Play for any concern caused by this unintentional error. In the meantime, users can till now download UC Browser Mini from the Play Store, a substitute version of UC Browser. We thank Google Play for their understanding and support elaborate to us.
UC Browser has allegedly been removed from Play store overnight and the company hasn't revealed the reason why.UC Browser has been under scrutiny pertaining data safety anxiety. But, whether or not, its charged role in sending users' data to servers in China and doing it even post someone has deleted the app from their phones has something to do with it, is even then to be seen.
But, here is what we do have knowledge. Alibaba the company that owns UC Browser has not released any official statement on the sudden removal of the application. But, one Mike Ross who apparently works with UC Browser has taken to Twitter to reveal why UC Browser can't be found on the Play Store anymore.I work for UC Browser, I got the mail today morning it said that UC Browser was temporarily removed from play store for 30 days because it used "Confusing" and "Morbid" methods" of promotion to increase installs.
All said, there's still no official statement from UC Web or Google regarding the delisting.
Reports went viral back in August that UC Browser was trying to snitch sensorial user data which it then sends to its servers in China without users certain. And, most possibly, that's what the government has done by delisting the application from Google play store.
